Was told,
“The pretty boy in the forest—
If you want him,
you can have him.
But you must also
inherit this ramshackle house,
fetch water and chop wood
to survive the long dark nights.”
But the dreamer
could also be
a faerie queen
turning the house into
a midsummer night’s dream
If on a summer’s night a dreamer
was invited
into a coffee shop
in a girl’s mind,
a shelter
from the long, dark, Northern nights.
Lost in the forest, the dreamer
was told,
“Turn right and go straight ahead,
and you’ll step straight into
our warm-scented dimension.”
Years are passing, the girl’s fading
And she, or the coffee shop, says
Remember me, remember me for
those who still need me
on a winter’s night
Relive the past
Revisit a place
Regain a certificate
The Sleeping Beauty flutters
her eyelids
in dreams
Congratulations
on graduation
By the old sea
meet the new you
as a new me
in the new sun
of a new kingdom coming.
